As a pioneer in Nepal’s fair trade movement, Mahaguthi has actively supported traditional potters in transitioning from conventional pottery to refined handcrafted ceramic production that meets international standards. Through this journey, Mahaguthi preserves cultural heritage while opening access to global markets for ethical ceramic vases made in Nepal. As a result, every ceramic vase reflects a balance of tradition, responsibility, and design excellence.
Through sustained technical, financial, and design support, Mahaguthi works closely with ceramic artisans to strengthen skills, improve production processes, and enhance overall quality. In turn, this collaborative approach enables artisans to expand their capacity, refine their craftsmanship, and secure sustainable livelihoods. Moreover, continuous training ensures consistency in each handmade ceramic vase without compromising individuality. Today, Mahaguthi offers a diverse range of earthenware and stoneware ceramics, blending traditional knowledge with contemporary design sensibilities. At present, the ceramic unit provides employment opportunities to around 20 skilled artisans, ensuring fair wages, safe working conditions, and dignity of work. In practice, artisans produce each handcrafted ceramic vase in an environment that values people as much as products. Through this approach, ethical production transforms ceramics into meaningful pieces of home décor.
