About Soapnuts
Soapnuts have been grown and sustainably harvested in NEPAL for centuries. The Shell contains Saponin, a natural and environmentally friendly detergent which is allergy free and perfect for babies, eczema and sensitive skin.
The artisans of us separate the shell from seed. The seeds are dried and made into jewelry by disadvantaged women. It allows them to reintegrate into society and ecome productive. The shells are packaged in raw cotton bags which are hand loomed and sewn by our artisans.
Making craft and jewelry from silver is one of the oldest occupations of Nepal. But due to machine made products, hence cheaper in price, this occupation is in threat. Furthermore, we, Mahaguthi Craft with Conscience are supporting community to preserve their craft and tradition by providing them design support, market access and financial support to upgrade their tools and equipment.
About Mala
Malas are in use for keeping count while reciting, chanting, or mentally repeating a mantra. We call this sādhanā (practice) in Sanskrit as japa. Also in Tibetan Buddhism, malas of 108 beads are in use. However, this mala is not for these activities. Therefore, this is a simple ritha and silver mala that you can wear anywhere as an accessory.
