Cashmere, is a fiber we get from cashmeres goats or pashmina goats. This is one of the most sought-after fibers in the world. It’s fine hairs are softer, lighter, and can be up to three times more insulating than sheep wool. It has been a prized material for centuries, but its quality comes at a cost.
Cashmere possesses great insulation properties that help contain body heat. Unlike cotton, the properties of this fiber make it extremely durable. Sweaters made of it retain their shape far longer than cotton, and do not shrink as easily when washed. This fabric is also eight times warmer than sheep wool.
